Hello, it's just me
Completely misunderstood...that's me.
Wanting things the way I wish they could be.
I guess that is wrong for me to do
It's not wrong to me, it's just wrong to you.

Wanting to be part of your world a bit
Realizing I just can't fit.
Trying and trying floating around
Hanging on then hitting the ground.

Who are you I often wonder
How is it I always blunder?
Conflicting hearts how hard they try
Conflicting hearts that said goodbye.

I don't know what to say
You took my words away.
Why is it so hard for you to see
Why is it so hard? Hello, it's just me.

I Thought of You Today (in Memory of my Dad)

Since IT is father's day, and mine is no longer with us, I thought I would re-publish this with its renewed copyright. Enjoy.

I Thought of You Today (in Memory of my Dad)

In memory of my dad, The greatest man I knew. 8/20/02

I thought of you today, the way I often do.
I heard your voice calling me each time the sea wind blew.
I thought of you today, I had a question to ask of you.
Because you always seemed to know exactly what to do.
I remembered the things about you, the things you've said and done.
I remembered the love I had for you, love that made us one.
I thought of you today, and wondered what I'd do.
The life line you have given me is the only one i knew.
I see you in every flower and hear you in every song.
Then I thought how you may have passed,
But you'll never really be gone.
I noticed that in my heart your fire still burns bright.
You never left, you are still here to kiss us all goodnight.
I thought about the times we shared and all the things we had.
I thought of how blessed I was to have a super dad.

The Silence.
It is Friday night on the East coast USA. Everyone all over the world is waiting for word on what has happened over night in Iran.

Have not heard from my Persian facebook friends since this afternoon, my time.

The silence is deafening...

My Take On the Movement in Iran
Since the election in Iran was rigged, I have to say I am appalled and amazed, all at the same time. Never once have I had such currents of different emotions flowing down the river of feelings. I have actively engaged myself in the Twitter revolt. I have actively engaged myself in the Facebook revolt, through which I have personally interacted with Iranians, come across many different walks of life, people with very different opinions, thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The people I have been fortunate enough to encounter in any part of the world have been very sweet people.

Let's start with this. For our wonderful Western Culture: To me, I find it amazing how still, the Islamic culture is one that is gravely misunderstood by the world, and sadly, the ones to blame for that are the extremists that have taken it's true meaning way too far. They try to use their religion as justice for killing and intimidation. And, let us not forget the extremism displayed within our OWN culture. Islam is simply not about that, anymore than Christianity is. What you all saw happening on 9/11...THAT is NOT what Islam is TRULY about. Let's not be fooled by these extremists that call themselves believers. Let's explore the true meaning of the word "Islam".

The literal meaning of the word Islam is "peace". The religion was established 1,400 years ago when the angel Gabriel revealed himself to the prophet Mohammad, who then recorded it in what is known as The Quran. Now, it would take days for me to get into all of it, but I can tell you a few key things and how I know this. First off let me start by saying no I am not pulling this info up on some website I googled. My ex-husband, who is still one of my greatest friends, is Pakistani. I had to learn quite a few things about it.

First of all, unlike the Christian religion, I learned that baptism is unnecessary, as all are born pure. I have learned that Jesus exists to them as well, but as a prophet, not as the son of God. I have learned that despite certain cultures that take things a little too far, they do seem to have respect for women, and their goal is to protect them. I have learned that unlike the majority of Western culture, it is the eldest son's responsibility to care for the family should the head of the family pass away or become incapacitated. I have also learned that despite the differences, which believe it or not are quite minor, the story in the Quran and The Holy Bible are pretty much the same. One is just a little newer than the other, but the background is the same.

With that said let me address the wonderful Islamic community: The people of the world are not supporting your efforts in Iran because we have anything to gain from it. We are supporting you because we see your struggle. We see your strife. We want you to be happy and not live in fear. We want your children to be able to have the same opportunities as every other child. We want you to be able to post something on the internet and not be chastised for it. We want for you the ability to leave your house, pick up a newspaper, and read the truth. It would really be alot easier for everyone to just walk away from it, wouldn't it? I am really tired of hearing some of you say that we are only doing this for some kind of reward, monetary gain of sorts. Have you ever heard of human rights? Did Allah create the world with the intention of one man controlling your every move? Absolutely not. The Earth was a gift to ALL of mankind. Not one man is greater than the other, and differences are what make it so fruitful. That is also how we learn about one another.

We want you to be able to freely talk to people from other nations and cultures, and we want to be able to talk to you. The more we learn of one another, the more tolerant we will be to each other's world. Most of all, we will never agree that murder, violence and intimidation is the way to any one's heart. They are using fear tactics on you, and for the sake of your children, and your children's children, you must keep up this fight. Technology is a beautiful thing. The world is a beautiful place. There is so much to learn, and so much that needs to be done here.

To everyone: When I saw the images of the students in Iran being beaten and killed, their dorms destroyed, and their human rights stripped (all of Iranians), it broke my heart. The Iranian Government may have just killed the doctor that would've cured aids, or the physicist who may have discovered a way to break the speed of sound. These kids had hopes, dreams, and they were your future. They are every one's future. Mr. Ahmadinejad, You have done a grave injustice to the world by playing "God" and ending their lives prematurely. You have taken them from their families, you have taken them from the world. I do not know of any God that would allow you to impersonate them and let you do such a thing. As far as I am concerned, you are a sociopathic killer. I put you , sir, in the same category as Charles Manson. Congratulations.

No one said our ideology has to be the same in this world. In fact, if it were, I think I would find this place we call Earth to be painstakingly boring. But for those who are saying the people of the world are "feeding the fire" for some kind of personal or financial gain-you could not be more wrong. The United States government, and administration of President Barack Obama has barely commented on the situation. And as for everyone else? It's as simple as this. Lying, cheating and stealing votes is wrong. The people's voice (and yes, it was ONE loud voice) was not heard and they have been deceived. Murder and violence bestowed upon people peacefully protesting the outcome and making their voices heard since they were not heard the first time is wrong. And THAT is why we are here, banding together. Not just for Iran. But for all of humanity.
